For accessibility needs, please review our Accessibility Features.  You can also reach out to Kimberly@westwindsorarts.org with questions regarding this event.

It has been attributed to Picasso “Everything we create is a self-portrait.” Therefore, we can move towards the notion that when we all tell our stories and document our journeys through the creation of artwork, we reveal some aspect of ourselves. In the space of telling /sharing our stories, we come together as a community. Members were invited to share their visual stories through art created within the past two years.

An artist’s journey or story comes through in any image they create. Every day is a new visual story and is an ongoing exploration of who you are and your experiences. For example, landscapes and florals might be rooted in memory, location, or feeling as part of your journey. Whereas non-representational art is a way of communicating your journey with what comes through in color, shapes, and textures.

Dr Lupo’s Artist’s Statement: My work is influenced greatly by the power of myth and fairy tales to inform and understand my own biographical journey through universal stories and themes. Personally, I long to belong to be accepted, and to find my sense of place which as a child did not exist in my world. A stranger in a strange land displaced, disjointed…alone. My creative process is stimulated by various and unusual materials while enjoying their lush and tactile properties. Transcending the use of traditional materials, my work includes such materials as: topsoil, teabags, fabric, faux flowers, and recycled materials.
