MLK Day of Service 2023

Join West Windsor Arts Council and African American Parent Support Group as we partner with local agencies to provide much needed assistance to the people they serve. We are collecting donations for 7 organizations, see list below.

• Bring your donated items to West Windsor Arts on the day of the event between the hours of 10:00 am to 3:00 pm

-OR-

• in advance from January 9 – 13 between the hours of 10:00 am and 6:00 pm.

We are seeking the following donations for these organizations:

Rise Community Services, for children ages 3 – 12:

1. new pajamas
2. toothbrush, toothpaste
3. gently used or new books

Children’s Home Society, for youth ages 10 – 15:

1. handmade hats, mittens, and scarves

Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK):

1. plastic utensils (fork, knife, spoon)
2. napkins
3. elastic bands

PEI Kids, for young men aged 12 – 17, new brand-name only:

1. deodorant
2. body wash
3. bath towel
4. toothpaste, toothbrush
5. lotion

Womanspace, for moms, new brand-name only:

1. body wash
2. shampoo
3. conditioner
4. lotion
5. bath towel

MillHill Child Development Center, for babies and children:

1. diapers (infant to size 9)
2. wipes
3. socks (infants, toddlers – age 11)
4. naptime blankets (ages 3 – 5)
5. pajama sets (all genders ages 3 – 10)
6. babywash
7. toothbrushes, toothpaste (ages 2 – 11)

For packaging the items (all projects):

1. clear recycle bags
2. gallon ziploc bags
3. gift bags

Letters Against Isolation, for seniors in New Jersey:

1. handwritten notes (get creative at home and bring them in! find inspiration here)

-OR donate the following items-

1. blank notecards with envelopes
2. new thin Sharpie pens
3. new packs of colored pencils
4. stickers

In order to help us plan accordingly, please register each individual in your group for a timeslot by selecting one of the available tickets. Families, clubs, or corporate groups welcome. The total number of volunteer spots are limited for the safety of our participants.

“Donations organizers” will work inside West Windsor Arts to package donations as they arrive into kits to be ready for delivery.
