String Puppet Workshop
April 1 @ 1:30 pm - 5:30 pm

Channel your inner Gepetto and come away from this four hour string puppet workshop with a 12 to 15 inch tall wooden puppet you can then bring to life. You will be assembling, painting, and clothing your puppet (wooden parts and controller will be prepped for each participant).
As a benefit for Ukraine, puppet maker Irena Gobernik is donating her profit from this string puppet making workshop. Gobernik, who grew up in Kazakhstan, has been carving wood since she was 16. She studied puppetry in Prague, known for its puppet shows and puppet making workshops. Her puppets, filled with personality, have charmed many in the art world.
Madelaine Shellaby and Ilene Dube have organized this workshop is part of our Artists for Ukraine fundraising project. Irena is donating her time and talents, with $70 from each registration going to the Ukraine Fundraising Project. The rest of the money will be used for the supplies needed to create the puppets and run the program. Money collected will go to Direct Relief International, a non-profit organization that provides medical and humanitarian relief to all people, regardless of political beliefs, and specifically to the people (women, children and refugees) of Ukraine.
