9 am – 1 pm “Out of this World” Chalk Art Contest – Open to everyone! Sign up onsite on your own, or as part of a group. Chalk designs must original designs inspired by space exploration, the possibility of life in outerspace, or relate to the “War of the Worlds.” Awards will be offered to Professional Artists, Individuals (participants will be grouped by age – Adult, Teen, Youth), and Organizations/Groups.

2 – 4:30 pm “Gourd”geous alien decorating and other fun projects for kids – turn that gourd into a spectacular alien friend who can welcome trick-or-treaters to your door.

3 – 3:30pm Orson Welles lecture by Professor Al Nigrin

3:30 – 4pm Film screening: “The Suitor” by Alvaro Congosto

4 – 4:30pm Intermission

4:30 – 6pm Film screening: 1953 version of “The War of the Worlds”

Join us for a reception and celebration of the first mARTian Project! The 12 foot tall sculpture is made entirely out of recycled materials and is a nod to the original description of the alien ships from H.G. Wells’ book, “War of the Worlds.” Meet the artist and see where it’s new home will be.
