Explore the versatility and beauty of cyanotype printing in this 3 session workshop. This non-toxic process uses sunlight to capture direct images on sensitized paper, creating the wonderful shades of blue that cyanotype is known for. Participants do not need any drawing or previous printmaking experience. The class will cover the history of cyanotype, how to make single and layered images, washout (fixing) in water, and drying. Participants will learn to coat their own sensitized papers, adding a further level of creativity and area for personal expression in the cyanotype process.
Participants are welcome to bring any small objects that create interesting shadows or patterns such as dried plants, laces and other fabrics, feathers, stencils etc to use throughout the class. The instructor will also bring a selection of materials for class use. $25 cash material fee payable to the instructor.
