Call for Art

Faculty and Student Art Show

Artist in front of her work in an art gallery.

Each year we look forward to showcasing the artwork of our talented teaching artists and their students of all ages in our Faculty and Student Art Show. In this show, we highlight the many mediums and art forms students use to create incredible artwork throughout the year. They all have the opportunity to get at least one piece of artwork displayed in the show. Youth students who have achievements in our Certificate in Fine Arts (CiFA) program will be honored and recognized at the opening. One CiFA student’s artwork will be selected to become a part of our permanent collection, displayed for all to see in the lobby of the art center.

Students may submit up to three works of art for consideration that were created in a class or workshop at West Windsor Arts during the Summer 2024, Fall 2024, Winter 2025 or Spring 2025 sessions. We encourage all art forms, including drawing, painting, sculpture, poetry, photographs, digital and animation files. There is no cost for submission. Teaching artists may submit up to two works of art for consideration. Everyone will get at least one piece into the show.

Dates of the Exhibition:  June 3 to July 12, 2025

ACCEPTED ARTWORK

Submission of form for inclusion constitutes an agreement between the artist and West Windsor Arts Council (WWAC) to the following conditions set forth:

1) The exhibit will be displayed on our website, and in our galleries in a way that best showcases all the artists and art to be exhibited. Note: The selection of artwork to be included in the show is to be a collaborative effort between the student, Teaching Artist and Education Manager. Ultimately it is the decision of the Education Manager as to which works of art will be accepted. Everyone will get at least one work into the show.

2) Artwork included in the show must remain on exhibit until the conclusion of the final exhibit date.

3) Sale of Artwork: Work does not need to be for sale to be included; however, WWAC encourages the sale of exhibited work. WWAC receives a 30% commission on all work sold, and the artist receives the balance (70%) of sale (25%/75% for Artist Level Members). Please keep that in mind when pricing your artwork. WWAC is responsible for processing and collecting the sale proceeds for artwork and will remit payment for artwork by check to the artist within 21 business days of closing of the exhibit.

4) By participating in this exhibit, the artist gives WWAC permission to use the artist’s name, image, and images of accepted artwork in its publicity and marketing materials, and to photograph the artists and their work during events connected to this show.

About Exhibitions

People in an art gallery viewing local artist paintings and other various mediums of art.

West Windsor Arts establishes an annual calendar of exhibits that feature both emerging and established artists from our region and beyond. The Exhibition Committee selects themes based on media, community interest, tie-ins to events, and educational value.

The exhibits we present each year focus on high artistic quality art that showcases diverse themes and genres. For each exhibit the committee selects a juror from notable regional art educators, professional artists and museum/gallery directors, who choose works consistent with their standards of excellence and our artistic selection criteria.‍

Criteria for selecting artwork to exhibit at West Windsor Arts:

  • Competent use of media and artistic technical skill
  • Artistic sensitivity and emotional impact
  • Creative and innovative work to educate the public
  • Wall appeal to attract the public
  • Relevance to show theme (if applicable)
  • Art is new to WWA and has not been in a previous show
Unless stated otherwise, all open calls are for adults 18 and over only. Exceptions include:
  • Off the Wall Affordable Art Show (16 and over)
