Teen cuts a design into a lino block

Get ready to dive into printmaking!  This week-long camp will let you explore some of the printmaking techniques that take advantage of creativity, spontaneity and color.  No drawing expertise is required to make some great images you'll be proud to frame. For those students considering a Fine Arts degree, prints can help round out an application portfolio too.The class will start with linoleum printing using various tools to carve an image and a manual printing press to hand-print the linoleum block onto paper.  Next, gelli plate printing will allow you to apply special colored inks using brayers and textured objects to create wonderful luminous layered prints. Monoprinting will be explored over two days of the camp, with one day working up the image using brushes and tools with inks, and one day working from a solid color field and removing selected inked areas to create the image.  On the last day of camp, the student can choose which printmaking technique they want to do a deeper dive on, with further guidance from the instructor. What to bring: photos, photocopies or magazine images that inspire you will give you a place to start your printmaking journey, but are not required.  Bring your imagination and energy and you will create a series of prints that reflect your own personal artistic style.
