Audrey Jakab

As a multidisciplinary artist, I think of the things I make as silent, kindred spirits. My workcomes out of my emotional landscape. The pieces create connections to expressive placesand the pressure of words fall away into the background.Intuitively built, many pieces take their time to disclose themselves. Sometimes the wallsculptures are just about composition and balance and a quirky beauty. Often, the paintingsare about the play between color and design and texture. Other times, a title comes to meimmediately and I direct a piece towards something more concrete, such as in the ‘amulet’series of small sculptures with their intention to safeguard.I’m compelled to make art because using my hands & my vision to navigate different materialshas always felt very essential, direct and grounding.
