My name is Priya Maikandan, I am a Software developer by profession. My true passion resides in the vibrant world of painting. I work primarily with acrylics on a variety of surfaces such as canvas, glass, and wood. Additionally, I explore the medium of silk painting, using pure silk as my canvas alongside silk dyes and wax to craft wearable silk scarves. Through this medium, I combine intricate designs with vibrant colors, creating pieces that seamlessly blend artistry with functionality. I find solace and inspiration in the act of creation. In 2012, I was captivated by a television show showcasing the mesmerizing one stroke painting technique, instantly enthralled, I felt a desire to learn it, since then through training and dedication, I achieved Level 1, Level 2 , Oversized, Drawing & Design, and Elite certifications, under the guidance of Donna Dewberry. One Stroke painting is a technique of loading a brush with 2 or more colors to get shading, blending and highlighting all in one stroke. This method is free hand, which gives you the opportunity to be much more creative. I have taught this technique online and in-person to many students and adults along the way.In 2016, I attended a silk painting workshop at an Art Expo which ignited my passion for silk painting. Since then, I've started exploring this technique, experimenting with vibrant silk dyes, wax and silk fabrics . My dedication bore fruit when one of my silk scarves was selected for display at the Silk Painting International Festival in Gatlinburg, Tennessee in 2022, where it found a new home.Currently, I host Paint Night events at various venues, bringing people together to unleash their creativity in a lively and social atmosphere through platforms like PaintNite.com.Through my art, I strive to capture the beauty of the world around me, whether it's the bold strokes of acrylics or the delicate intricacies of silk painting.
