Beginners and experienced level painters will enjoy this watercolor class. We will cover the fundamental techniques (wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, masking, watercolor blooms, splatter technique) to create a successful watercolor painting. A new painting will be created every week with a focus on subjects such as landscapes, florals, animals, and more. New projects and subjects will be explored, so both new and continuing students are welcome.

Materials:  Bring to first class: 9×12” watercolor paper (recommended: Strathmore brand or Canson brand); tube watercolors – small to medium set (recommended brands: Winsor and Newton, Cotman). A small tube of white acrylic paint, Watercolor brush set, palette, cup to hold water, toothbrush, masking fluid, hard board or hard cardboard to tape work down on.

About the Teaching Artist

Sarika Soman holds a Masters Degree in Fine Arts (Painting Specialization) from India. With over 15+ years of experience in drawing and painting she is best known for her colorful and vibrant watercolor landscapes, still life and abstract paintings. She has participated in showcasing her work in group shows as well as in solo exhibitions. She is passionate about art education and believes strongly in teaching both children and adults the skills that can enable them to draw and paint realistically. A favorite quote of hers by Claude Monet : “The richness I achieve comes from Nature, the source of my inspiration.”
