We all have that corner, closet or drawer in our home full of art supplies that we used once or maybe never at all. Most thrift stores don’t take these items as donations and it would be a terrible shame for them to sit and collect dust, or worse, end up in the landfill. To solve these problems, Propagate Studio in Stewartsville, NJ is collaborating with West Windsor Arts on an Art Supply Thrift Shop.
The first step is for everyone to drop off their items. The second step is to come back and shop the collection.
On July 27, the doors of West Windsor Arts are open for drop off. See below for our suggested list of things we will take and our no-no list for things we do not want. Everyone dropping off can get a letter acknowledging their donation.
Then on Aug 3, all those goodies will be on display for purchase. There is a small admission fee to the sale, but anything you purchase is pay what you wish! Imagine all the fun, art making supplies you will discover and get to bring home!
Our philosophy is “take what you’ll use and pay what you can.”

All donations must be clean:
Free of human/animal hair, dirt, mold, debris
No water damaged items
Free of smoke or musty smells.

- Sewing machines and supplies
- Crayons in the box, unused, or slightly used
- Markers that have been tested for juiciness
- Colored pencils (even dull ones!)
- Construction, printer, or scrapbook paper
- New or hardly used Acrylic, oil and watercolor paint

- Unused coloring books
- Foam or felt sheets
- New glue sticks
- Hot glue sticks
- New, gently used and clean paint brushes
- Stretched canvas/canvas boards

Propagate Studio has saved hundreds of pounds of supplies from the landfill since they began 2022, diverting over 375 pounds of supplies during their recent pop-up sale! We are thrilled to do this for our community.
