Croquet: A rock opera inspired by Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

Join us for a musical adventure based on Lewis Carroll’s tale of imagination and adventure!

Croquet is an original rock opera based on the novel, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, and will be performed by Dream of Maya. This concert is a benefit for West Windsor Arts. Your ticket will support our mission to transform the world around us through the arts.

Dream of Maya includes:
VAUGHAN BURTON, electric guitar, lead vocals
Vaughan Burton has collaborated with Albert Bouchard (of Blue Öyster Cult), Lily Frost (whose music was featured in Charmed, Grey’s Anatomy, and Crazy Beautiful), and Steve Fields (songwriter for Samantha Sang and Maxine Nightingale).
CECELIA TEPPING, lead vocals, flute
Cecelia Tepping is a veteran of regional musical theatre and opera who has performed in The Magic FluteThe Barber of Seville, and other productions with Boheme Opera. She also performs locally as a member of the trio, Two Sopranos and a Piano.
JEFF ESPENSHADE, electric bass, 12-string guitar, additional vocals
Jeff Espenshade transcribed cello melodies for the 2021 Harry Chapin tribute at the City Winery in New York, which featured many of Chapin’s family and band members. He has also played in support of Tom Brislin (keyboardist for Meatloaf, Yes, and Kansas); and he has shared the stage with Howie Fields, drummer for Harry Chapin.
SEBASTIAN ESPENSHADE, electric bass
Sebastian Espenshade has also performed with Howie Fields; and he has played numerous shows in New York and New Jersey.
PAUL HUNNEMANN, keyboards, guitar
Paul Hunnemann has performed with Eight Eyes and Reason and Instinct. His 2021 release is titled Plenty O’ Planxty; and he is the creator and music director of the progressive rock project, Shadowlands.
BEN KAPLAN, drums
Ben Kaplan is a dynamic percussionist who has performed at prominent clubs such as Katmandu and John and Peter’s; and he has also played in support of Tom Brislin and the Gerry Hemingway Quintet.

Song titles include: Curiouser and Curiouser, Pool of Tears, I Hardly Know Me, The Dark Forest, Croquet, Drink Me, Won’t You Join the Dance, Between Worlds, Playground, Waves, What Happens Now?

Music and lyrics by Vaughan Burton. All proceeds will be donated to support the arts and education programs of West Windsor Arts.

Overflow parking will be located at the Wallace Lot by the Princeton Junction train station on Wallace Rd.

*COVID-19 safety procedures:
All adult patrons will be asked to provide proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test taken within 2 days of the event and to wear a mask.
HVAC with fresh air ventilation and additional HEPA filters are in use in all spaces. Reduced capacity seating will be spaced 3 feet apart. Hand-sanitizing stations are available and performers will be at least 6 feet from the front row.
