Lunchtime Gallery Series with Princeton University Art Museum

November 18, 2020 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Lunchtime Gallery Series with Princeton University Art Museum

WWAC and Princeton University Art Museum come together for an exciting and engaging series showcasing some of the Museum’s outstanding collections.

Each session is led by a docent of the museum. Topics range from Contemporary African American Artist, the genesis of the Abstract Expressionist Movement and more.

The docent program at Princeton University Art Museum involves an intensive, one-and-a-half year training program, consisting of lectures, gallery sessions, research, and presentations to fellow trainees and other docents. Docents then continue their education throughout their years of service by attending docent meetings, participating in study groups, attending gallery talks, and taking trips with fellow docents to other regional museums.

Fall Session  ABEX, the genesis of the Abstract Expressionist Movement
Session 2 – Nov 18, 2020 at 1pm:  ABEX, the genesis of the Abstract Expressionist Movement.

After World War II, the creations of a group of artists who became known as Abstract Expressionists made New York City the world focal point of Contemporary Art.  In his presentation Docent Rob Coghan will discuss key examples in the museum collection.  Rob was trained as a lawyer and has spent most of his ongoing career as an entrepreneur.  Passionate about art and art history he is happy to share what he knows with others.
