MLK Day of Service 2024

MLK Day of Service 2024 day of service

Join West Windsor Arts and the African American Parent Support Group as we partner with local agencies to provide much needed assistance to the people they serve.

Volunteers will package donations for distribution and participate in special projects. The total number of volunteer spots was limited for the safety of our participants.

Registration for volunteers is now full. Thank you for your enthusiastic support!

Donations are still needed!
Registration for donations is not required. See below for a list of needed items.

Bring your donated items to West Windsor Arts:
1. On the day of the event: Monday, January 15 between the hours of 10:00 am to 3:00 pm
2. In advance: M-F, January 8 – 12 from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm; Sat, January 13 from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.

We are seeking the following donations for these organizations:

Rise Community Services, for youth ages 3 – 12:

  1. new pajamas
  2. toothbrush, toothpaste
  3. gently used or new books

Children’s Home Society, for babies, toddlers, and up to age 15:

  1. handmade hats, mittens, and scarves

Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK):

  1. plastic utensils (fork, knife, spoon)
  2. napkins
  3. elastic bands

PEI Kids, for young men aged 12 – 17, new:

  1. hoodies (black, grey, green)
  2. hats/scullies, gloves
  3. gift cards (McDonalds, Dominos, Dunkin, Regal Cinemas)
  4. art supplies: sketch pads/markers/colored pencils
  5. journals, notebooks, adult coloring books & color pencils
  6. earbuds/headphones

Womanspace, for moms new, brand-name only:

  1. body wash/splash
  2. body lotion
  3. nylon styling hair brushes
  4. razors for women
  5. women’s underwear (all sizes)

Womanspace, for children and adults, new:

  1. coloring books
  2. activity books
  3. puzzle books
  4. sketchbook
  5. journal
  6. markers
  7. crayons
  8. colored pencils
  9. gel pens
  10. felt pens
  11. stickers
  12. embellishments (ex. gems, washi tape)
  13. glue sticks or tape

MillHill Child Development Center, for babies and children:

  1. diapers (infant to size 9)
  2. wipes
  3. socks (infants, toddlers – age 11)
  4. naptime blankets (ages 3 – 5)
  5. pajama sets (all genders ages 3 – 10)
  6. babywash
  7. toothbrushes, toothpaste (ages 2 – 11)

Letters Against Isolation, for seniors in New Jersey:

  1. handwritten notes (find inspiration here)

For packaging the items (all projects):

  1. gift bags
  2. big clear recycling bags
  3. gallon ziploc bags

We look forward to a “day on, not a day off!”
